Table alpine hut, part of the alpine pasture heritage of the municipality of Castel Condino, boasts excellent cheese production, thanks to the experience and dedication of the cheesemaker. The structure lies on a panoramic terrace overlooking the Valle del Chiese and is the access point for a series of wonderful hiking opportunities. Once you have visited the hut, you can in fact continue on foot along the path and easily reach an altitude of 1760 m, to discover the Clevet, Clef and Cleabà huts. The more experienced hikers can continue, following the SAT path, towards Mount Bruffione.
Adjacent to the malga, there is also a recently renovated building, which was once used as a stable for the herds that travelled along the mountainside to reach the alpine pastures. The building has recently been completely renovated by the BIM del Chiese (Consorzio dei Bacini Imbriferi Montani) and has become a structure for resting and overnight stays, subject to a request to the municipality of Castel Condino.
It can be reached starting from Prezzo and following the signs as far as ‘Boniprati’ or starting from Cimego, continuing as far as Castel Condino and continuing along an asphalt road. Once you reach Boniprati and pass the shelters, you will reach a fork in the road and, keeping to the left, proceed as far as Baite alpine hut and then for a further two kilometres until you reach the car park below Table alpine hut.
THE ANCIENT ART OF CHEESE-MAKINGE
EVERY FRIDAY and SUNDAY
2 P.M.
You will witness cheese-making at first hand and all the various stages of milk processing, aimed at producing malga cheese, cottage cheese and butter. In addition to the demonstration, you will have the opportunity to visit the cowshed, where milking of the cows takes place, and the premises where the cheese is produced and stored. And if you want to go home with something special and genuine, the herdsman will be on hand to let you taste the cheese products prepared on site, which you can of course buy.
